ACCIDENT

I travel 10s of thousands of miles on the I system. Most of the new generation semi truck drivers are horrible. They aren't the old Cowboys of the Road anymore.

This school bus was hit on the shoulder of a 6 lane interstate. 20 injured, hopefully no deaths.

If you're a trucker and disagree, I respect that, but you must be one of the few good ones.

I drove back and froth from DeForest to Janesville two weekends ago on I39/90, Fri-Sun, round trip each day. I saw NOTHING of law enforcement. Just a lot of signs and those goofy "you are going" XXMPH signs. While nothing was out of hand as far as speeders(there were a handful) the general pace was WAY ABOVE the posted 55mph. What a joke.

On another note. I hopped down I94/39 last evening for 6 miles and was blockaded by 3 semis all going less than the posted limit while driving 3 abreast. Jerks. They had no intention of passing one another or driving the limit. That kind of stuff does nothing but CREATE a traffic hazard when it piles up traffic behind them.

There are never officers when you really need to see them.

In addition to semis involved in a major crash on NB I -90/94 the day before the 2 people were killed in a major crash involving semis last week, I was NB today on I 90/94 when a traffic alert had me ditch off the system and take 14 to Madison from Janesville.

Guess what? Another crash involving semis between the Highway 51 Stoughton exit and Madison. Supposedly, the State Patrol is using aerial drones and manned aircraft to control the speeds. I haven't seen it since they lowered the speed limit in spring.

Earlier in the day, on the way back from Chicago, IL State Troopers had 5 semis pulled over in a 15-mile stretch.

...and this industry complains about law enforcement hassling them.

One observation I have from interactions with truck drivers where I work - quite a few Eastern Europeans driving trucks out here, many of whom do not speak very good English and can't read simple signs.  That does not bode well out on the open road...

Here we go again, another semi plowed into slowed traffic this afternoon near Mauston on I90/94.  I believe I heard 2 other semis were involved and a few other vehicles. 2 people were killed.

This is getting rediculous. I drove to the twin cities and back yesterday.  Yep, there are knuckle heads driving cars, but if I were a State Patrol, I bet I could've written 15 tickets to semi drivers. Some were going over 80MPH. No directionals. Dangerous tailgating. Swerving in and out. Generally they aren't the highway cowboys they used to be.

He should have a jail sentence, lose his license, and get a huge fine. I smell a lawsuit! In this case, I'm all for it.

I was on I-39/90 today before the traffic got bad. Had a quick trip to Hoffman Estates from Madison and back.

I saw this todsy........Semi's changing lanes without signals cutting cars off. Semi's in the left lane (on 2 lane stretches in WI) holding up traffic. Semi's in the far left lane in IL where signs state, "No Trucks in Left Lane'.

The trucking companies complain they are being hassled be law enforcement; no wonder.

Just saw that the driver responsible for the crash was arrested for OWI.  I saw this on Facebook, so who knows if it's true.....

My best friend growing up was killed by a semi on this stretch that came across medium and hit him head on.

I love the CarPlay in my truck, hopefully texting and driving becomes rarity with technology advancements.   I would think trucking companies would add this to fleet just from liability stand point.

I've been driving this stretch a couple times a week for years, If you see a vehicle weaving, truck car or otherwise, and you get along side of it,,,,,cell phone. Luckily yesterday the trailer delivered the bulk of the hit to the bus, versus the tractor.

Two things:

First, heard on the radio today the driver of the offending truck was a known bad driver with a spotty record.

Second, I see semi-drivers every day texting.  UPS semi truck almost hit me in the left lane today, swerved back and almost hit the concrete median divider.  I-43 southbound, near Grafton, 1pm-ish.  Phone in hand.  Every damn day I see it.
