Did you have any updates as to the thickness of the ice since 1/19?

This pic was taken tonight. It is what I am going to be using to place into some kind of lime drink for this Friday evening. This ice is just the right height and thickness.

You could have, and should have stopped there.

3 miles at thickest point. I consider myself a Scientist as I’ve been on Lake Link since 2010 or so.

Certainly, cocktail napkin calculations are more precise than those performed by mathematicians and scientists.  Appreciate the public service.

I'm always amused when people that have no idea what they're talking about have the gall to call scientists liars.

Another knee slapper item, intended to frighten the gullible, is the “50 billion ton of ice per year” statement. A big so what! I estimate it is 11 cubic miles. You guys do the math on the equivalent sea level rise. (Hint: You can’t measure it with a ruler!)

How the hell are they measuring the melt rate in the first place? Making it up maybe?

No, I didn’t consider density differences between frozen vs. liquid water (or fresh vs. saltwater for that matter). I was simply doing an old fashioned cocktail-napkin-at-the-bar kind of calculation.

Nor did I take into account ripple effects (pun intended) of the original glacier melting upon other glaciers. I must have misread the article.
