GREEN BAY PACKERS
I will say this about Brandt...he DID know how the Packers worked. This is a different franchise than the one he worked for. Alot has changed under and Murphy in the last decade since Brandt left.
Doesn't mean he isn't right but he speaks from old knowledge, not current insight.
And...he did change how those contracts worked, while working with Mac. The goal was to get guys to buy into the GB way. And it worked.
Look...when we as fans speculate, it is based off of gut feelings and what we read from other sources. When a guy like Brandt speaks, he has first hand knowledge of how the NFL and specifically how GB functions.
I honestly expect that they will interview a large number of candidates and the one that comes in prepared and "blows" them away will get the job.
I will say this...after watching the Winston Moss interview this last weekend its not hard to figure out why he never got a HC job. My bet is he winds up wherever MM goes.
I've long thought that when Brandt speaks, it is an "educated guess". As he knows the organization and how things work in the NFL.
I keep hoping that the Dolphins will tank and get Gase fired. Not looking good on that front.
There's just not a great front running head coach candidate out there.
Agree that it in a perfect world, the coach does not come from college. But...the list in the NFL isn't exactly awe-inspiring. Then again, neither was Mac when he came over.
It's written by him sounding like a complete Homer! "I changed the NFL and how contracts were written.....blah blah blah" He himself said he HAD insight in the organization, but has nothing now. That's more history lesson then it is anything happening in the future.
Murphy said they will not discuss or interview until after the season is over but Brandt says they want to interview a college coach before season end. He's speculating just like everybody else at this point only he's trying to use his past to sound creditable.
I'm guessing maybe he is talking about the part where Brandt said its because they probably have their eye on someone outside of the league?
Honestly I just dont see that happening. They are not going to turn the immediate future of this organization over to a college coach with no NFL experience while Rodgers is here.
