I think we are starting to slowly see a bit of a shift developing amongst some of the high thought of college talent. These kids and their representatives are realizing that testing at the combine or Pro Day can sometimes hurt you more than help. Look at Kinchens. Had he not done the physical testing at the combine he very likely is a late 1st to mid 2nd rnd pick. Now he will be lucky to go in the middle rnds. Guys like Williams and Maye are set. Teams aren't going to pass on them because they don't work out. Even if DeJean was healthy, there just would be no reason for him to test.
OSD- I had mentioned Cole Bishop. Saw him play several times and he is physical and not afraid to attack the ball. Was really surprised with his testing numbers. Has good size and should be a good fit for the Box safety type role. I get the concern about not testing numbers for DeJean but I just know he plays faster than other guys on the field. Part of it is probably good instincts and football IQ. Plus he is so natural/fluid in the punt return game. Has that short term burst to makes guys miss. Only 21 and a Hawkeye!! Gutes kind of guy..
I like all the names posted. What I don't like is DeJean, Nubin, Newton, and JPJ have no measureables yet. JPJ by choice, the other 3 all medical. Reason I don't like it, just look at what happened to Kinchens. Mims is a physical freak who doesn't seem to have a mean streak. I'll throw a couple more names into the mix in Guyton and Mckinstry although he hasn't worked out yet either because of injury. Oh and there is a love fest between JPJ and Miami.
I doubt Murphy makes it to us. Very well could be the top DL off the board. He is going to be a beast in the right system. He needs to be able to shoot gaps and attack with his athleticism because he doesn't seem to disengage well, probably because of his short arms.
There are going to be some really athletic IDL available in the middle rounds, I just can't see us taking him even if he is available at #25. Just too many other good players who fit our immediate needs better.

I typically loathe the idea of taking an IOL in the first round. But not at where we pick right now, #25. I'm all in on Jackson "Austin" Powers Johnson. He's one of a few that I hope slide to us.
Why? His tape as an IOL just looks different than everyone else's. Pro ready. Smooth. No wasted movement. I don't even care if he is a G or C. He can play both at a very high level. We have so few holes I'd be fine with taking him.
My "wish list" right now, in no particular order, except for #1. DeJean, Newton, Fautanu, JPJ.
I haven't looked much at the DL Byron Murphy from Texas. Write ups are positive, anyone watch him and feel like he's worth consideration?
If those guys are gone, then I have a realistic list. Barton, Nubin, Mims.
Not sure who else I put in the realistic list. Maybe Cooper at ILB. But to me, that seems early, but Quay did, too.

Ok, here's a late round/FA name for you to mull. Myles Cole played last at Texas Tech. He's old, will be 24 before the draft, has little tape but had his best game on his last start. So not a Packer prospect you say. Positives, he's smart, a grad student at Tech with a degree in kinesiology, is 6'6" and 278, and has a RAS of 9.96. Definitely a project but he's kind of a clone of Gary/Van Ness and could be the 4th in that rotation as he learns.
There would definitely be no more excuses for the defense to not be elite. I think we will sign either a safety or LB yet. If they don't pick up a LB I would expect Guye to take a couple of them in the first 4 rnds of the draft. Even if they view McDuffie as a starter we still need one more plus depth.
Dillon isn’t a game changer but the Packers can win with him in the backfield. He was the starter in two of their bigger wins last season vs. Detroit and KC. Those wins were pivotal in turning the season around. Regardless, neither Dillon or Wilson are guaranteed roster slots in September. Still, Dillon is a cheap alternative that knows the offense and can play winning football.
