Flylines and knotless tapered leaders

Looking for information on quality of Walmart vs LLBean/Orvis etc. Don't really want to pay 3x as much if its not needed.

Good flyline can make a marginal fly rod turn to magic.  

Tapered leaders are overrated.  

Cheap mono knotted together can be a cheaper alternative.  

2 feet each of 25#, 15#, and 8# with blood knots and add 3-4 feet of 4X tippet for small/delicate flies.

Go to Cabelas and they carry good middle of the road stuff. Fly shops carry high end stuff, which is awesome if you can afford it. Scientific Anglers is good. Walmart carries Cortland. Leaders are worth spending a little extra on, so they don't keep that coiled up memory. 9' Rio is good.
