How important is it to have mapping? I have a Lowrance Elite-5 sonar with GPS on the bow of my boat but I am looking at getting a side imaging unit at the console. The Garmin Striker 7SV is about $300 cheaper than the Lowrance Elite-7 Ti that I really want to get.

I just bought last years model, the 73sv. One of the big selling features for me was the fact that there are 17,000 lake maps built in the unit. That's a $200 extra charge for map chips on Humminbird or Lowrance. That plus the sale price after discounts was only $450. The striker has no mapping capabilities. You can store waypoints, but no maps. That was a huge negative for me.
