when hooking up a curly tail worm should the tail be up or down when inserting the hook into the worm for presentation

Down away from hook point should also technically slow the fall of the bait. Even a little can be a difference in strikes. I like to make sure its down on Carolina rigs. Texas rigged i generally don't care so much.

I always suggest down, away from the hook point. Put in on the other way and you're basically just making it easier to fold up on the hook point when you go to set the hook. Otherwise it works the same in terms of bites/action.

Don't think it matters, it's personal preference... up/down/ sideways ... you still get a little extra actions

you probably get a little different retrieve/fall action based on position
