I have a 300 yard spool of 30# braid that I want to split between 2 different spinning reels. Not sure how to get 150 yds of braid on each. Once I have the braid on I would fill up the spool nicely with mono and rewind this on to my spare spool. How do I split 300 yards in half without going to the park with 2 screwdrivers and walking it out?

Just buy a line counter at your nearest shop. Im thinking about buying one of the rod mountable types, i saw one at gander mountain for like 13 bucks, not a bad price for all the time and hassle it can save you.

Use some cheap mono of the same diameter as the braid. Use a line counter and fill the spool to its proper level. Determine how much mono has to be removed to allow the addition of 150 yards of braid. Using the same counter remove that amount of the mono and replace with braid. I am going to try this method to split a 300 yd spool with 3 bait casters.

Measure the amount of line that gets retrieved with each turn of the crank. So if for example you retrieve 12 inches of line with each turn, then 100 turns would give you 100 ft of line onto your spool. Its just approximate but close enough.
