84 20hp mariner/tiller to remote?

You all were more then helpful, thanks for the advice. I've been building a conversion and I was hoping to get more casting room in the rear. If I can move the chairs up and install a steering wheel, it would help alot. Plus, I haven't done much trolling with the boat outside of my minnekota foot control(which I love!) Boats done already..thank god! just tweaking it a little from last years experience. It's my baby =) thanks again guys. I'll hold onto the tiller!! Thanks for lookin out.

You certainly can. Most outboard engines are set up as universal so when they are assembled they can be rigged either way. There are allot of guys out there that work on boat motors and have allot of parts. They would probably love to get their hands on your shifter and tiller handle because they will inner change with allot of motors. It would cost $200-$300 to get a motor switched over to a tiller so what you have is worth something. The change over is very simple and can be done within a couple hours.

I have a 30hp mariner that I want to hook up a stick steer for when I am trolling for eyes and it looks like all the hookups are on the outside of the case for throtle, shift and steering. It looks like it would be easy to get the controls from a donor boat and just hook them up. I have not found out if this would work but if you found a dealership that has used boat where the cables and links go I bet it would be simular to you motor. Not a very comon thing to do but there are people that do it.

Im almost positive they make a SRC kit for that motor which would include all your throttle linkage,steering assembly,and ignition box. my best advice would be going to your local marina or boat motor service shop and talk to a technician. I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the rite direction. GOOD LUCK
