I have a 1997 Mercury 50 HP 4 stroke tiller that I was thinking of selling. I just bought a new 75 HP mercury and I have to pick it up in 2 weeks. Would you recommend waiting to spring to sell it so I can show how well it runs or sell it off a engine stand. I have be toying with buying a boat to put it on and leaving it up north if its not worth much. How much would you ask? It runs great I just needed more power. Thoughts?

Ask the dealer what he would sell the motor for. Also find out what it would run to replace it with a used one if something happened to it. With the price of new motors and if the motor is in really good shape I would think it would be worth $3500. If you are not in a need for the money and you could find a half way decant boat to put it on, it might be wise to keep it. This way you can save gas traveling with less worries. ( Trailer tires or bearings going bad)
