Alumacraft loading problem
5/25/13 @ 10:54 AM
I picked up a 2000 Trophy 185 with a Shorelander roller trailer. When driving it on, the boat rear end continually positions against the left bunk guide or may even go on top of the left bunk guide. Never the right side, always the left. Neither positioning of trailer deeper/shallower or motor trimming makes a difference. Trailer settings are good.
Anyone else out there have this problem or have a solution? Help

I have a Alumacraft 200 Trophy and If the trailer is in too deep, or not square in the water, it will go off to one side. I always drive my boat onto the trailer far enough to hook the strap. I always position the trailer so the second row of wheels from the front are barely touching the water. Once you approach the trailer, It will creep up the wheels, then roll back a little. If you try to motor up on the first try, it always kicks off to a side. Also by having your trailer in this position, once you hook up the strap, you can turn the motor all the way to a side and goose it a bit. This will center it. Hope this helps.

If you are going on top of the load guide, your trailer is too deep in the water, or the guides are too small. Also, is your trailer level in the water? Roller trailers are not really designed to be drive on trailers. If you want to drive on, take the rollers off and put 4 bunks on the trailer.
