Ok so I purchased a 2008 6hp merc to use as a kicker on my new 17' Lowe. Do they really shake that bad? Reviews seem to be mixed. Some people love them and some people hate them.

Got to use it for the first time today. I didn't think it vibrated that bad. Tightened the friction and locked the throttle in at 2.5 mph, used the big motor to steer. Worked pretty good.

I'll probably just put a ratchet strap on it to hold it in place.

Make sure to figure out a way to secure it solidly when you're running your big engine or you will destroy the mount in no time at all.

Yes, just like all the threads here say, they do shake that bad. The most annoying part is all the "rattles" you'll find in thr boat.

I had the same motor on a 16.5' Lund. The shaking and vibration was bearable for a while, but it annoying pretty quick.
