Can someone tell me the difference between the two? Looking to put a kicker on my 18 ft smoker craft. Thanks

I have the privilege of running a 9.9 pro kicker and a high thrust yamaha 8 kicker. If u are considering the 9.9 merc p kicker and money isn't an issue u are MUCH BETTER off getting the yamaha kicker. They don't make the T8 any more but I'm sure their 9.9 is everything the T8 is/was. As far as kickers go yamaha is 10x the kicker a merc is, it's not even close. Much much more quiet, starts better, many more accoutrements.

For the money, go with the Pro Kicker. Like CPR said, larger gear casing, power trim, it is the motor to have. In fact look at the new Evinrude 4 stroke kicker's same as a Pro Kicker, it is made by the same company, just painted a different color.

IF you're going to use it as a kicker get the Pro Kicker

All the specs are here:

That's the long answer as to whether you can get power trim with a tiller. The short answer is "yes".

The Pro kicker has a larger lower unit. The gears are larger and the casting is thicker. The regular 9.9 4 stroke weighs 84 pounds and the Pro kicker weighs 104.
