I hunted in Clark county and heard a lot of howling before dark. During bow season I saw a lot of prints. I heard a lot of stories of others next to me seeing them. I feel this is where the deer are going and not the winter kill. Musky

Bowhunting Guy,

This trail cam is set up in the middle of Douglas co.  We have plenty of yotes, but there are also a lot of wolves.  I do not see enough of either to be good at identification.  Thanks for your input.

Showme - I’m on the fence with that one. The legs and overall size point to it being a coyote, but the black head throws me off. Not sure if that is just the angle/flash of the camera.

I’ve always liked this thread. 5/6 years ago we used to hear the Coyotes howl. Then some wolves moved in, and they would howl, but not as much. Now, last couple years....No Howling. Somebody will move in eventually?

Douglas. When you look at the wolf pack map of the state We have more packs then any other county by a LONG shot. Its over 30 documented packs that use Douglas County. So when people complain about the wolves I usually laugh at them. For multiple reasons, but firstly because they dont really have a wolf problem when you look at the big picture.

I get plenty of deer pictures too. I get deer pictures 30 minutes to an hour after a wolf walks past the camera and they are on the same trail. People forget where I am at the deer are hunted year round by the wolves so they are use to them. Sometimes it messes with movement or hunting but usually you dont get more than 1 picture of the same wolf on a camera. They dont like them and they avoid them after they see them.

Did see a large stool while working food plots last week . May just be a large coyote.  We have lots of them again . So maybe wolves moved on ? In the winter of 2017 three neighbors combined for over 30 trapped . And they still were howling in the spring .
