Another 150 antlerless nuisance tags are scheduled to be released in western Florence County. They are being given to a private timber/nature conservancy partially funded by the State of Wisconsin.. The same old end around by our WDNR to continue killing does after the CDAC voted to grow the deer population in Florence County and recommended a zero antlerless harvested. Nothing seems to change when it comes to the deer population in the Northwoods. The only constant is that it never seems to be low enough in the WDNRs estimation, hunters, landowners ,voters and taxpayers be damned.

Yes,but good luck hunting an eradicated deer herd there until after the winter migration starts. It's also supposedly very very hard to get a tag, those are kept in house for the most part.January is the best month as the logging draws in deer from the whole region. How many bucks that have lost their antlers are being harvested in late December/ January. Its also a complete head scratcher why Florence County buck harvest has fallen lower than neighboring Forest County's buck harvest. With a plummeting buck kill for four years straight I wonder when they will make a supposedly zero antlerless harvest county into an actual no antlerless harvest county. Maybe our WDNR can study that also as they study if the brush grows faster when you completely wipe out the deer herd.

Is the conservancy open to hunting?
