Things did change.

Noticed I could not apply for the draw or a PP this year without purchasing a "qualifying" license.  Just another $40-$50 extra from what I gathered.

Now I have a small games license that I will not use.

Glad elk license didn't go up this yr. But another good news is bear tags dropped from $350 to $100 so it's dumb not to get one

Oneshotkleibs, just saw this post today/ I was there for 3rd season and the elk started migrating at the middle to end of the week. Saw a herd of 6 opening day, 30 on Wednesday, over 200 on Thursday and lots of buck everywhere. Almost got it done. Would like to hear how you did.

Worked my butt off a couple weeks ago and shot a Cow with the Bow. Had to hunt high and low to find them. Weather change last couple of days has pushed them around. I took the dogs out this morning and had 3 Bulls.. one big boy and two young’in’s and probably 12 cows less than 50 yards from the back door just staring at me.

Meeker has a lot of great areas . We do very very well on public ground if you're willing to work and get far away from the crowd. . Miss those first rifle either or tags though!

Has anyone hunted the Meeker CO area? I see they have left over tags and might try for one. Rifle tag. I've hunted bow in Rico for the last 7 yrs and would like to try a new area

The one that other hunting party screwed us on, public hunting issues, what a shame

One we got on Monday, and one that another hunter screwed us out of on Sunday(moved in on the bull we were working the last 30 minutes (had 40-50 yards from us entire time, just awaiting a clear shot)and flung a gut shot at it, we found it 3 days later in same general area).  Slow week but we did hear bugles every morning.  Hot and dry out there with 80 degree afternoons made the morning hunts the only productive time.  Had to be at least 3 miles back to see elk in our area.  Unit 421 at 9200-9400
