Has anyone on here bear hunted in Idaho? Was it freelance or outfitter? If outfitter, who would you recommend?

You can get all the information on the internet. There is some need for research work.

I bow elk hunt just south of Hell's Canyon in Idaho.  Along the Snake.  It's desert rock and sage and there's bear everywhere.  My buddy that lives there hunts them on occasion.  They don't get as big as Wisconsin black bear, but atleast half (if not more) are color phase.  Which is fun to see.  Some hound hunting in that area as well.  I don't know of any guides, but a DIY rifle, should be a slam dunk if your ambitious.  Tags are reasonably priced too.

Just got back from Idaho. Hunted in bitter root mountains. Saw a small black bear first day out.  Nothing the rest of the week.  I'd save your money and stay in Wisconsin.
