Trail Camera Pictures
We have a cabin in northern Oneida county and have the random woodchuck around, very rare though. Got lots of baby woodchucks around this year around home and that's the first thing I thought when I saw it, fishers usually have longer bushy tails like squirrels.
That's a woodchuck or something other than a fisher. Woodchucks are stocky and have short stubby tails like that. I've seen several fishers and that doesn't resemble one in my opinion. Fishers are long somewhat slender and have very long tails. A fisher would have a tail 3 times longer than that.
Thanks for the input guys. I have had a few pictures over the years of fishers, so that’s what I’m leaning towards. With never seeing a wood chuck in the area I have my doubts about that, and this is really high ground for a beaver, so that might be a stretch too.
I had that thought as well, but this is in Oneida County and I have never seen a woodchuck there in my life. To me, the shape of the body doesn’t seem quite right either. The other thing that puzzles me is the face. If you look really close, you can see some white in it.
Any other thoughts?
