Wanted to start the 2018 updates from the field. Sometimes helps to know what is going on with patterns and movement. Sometimes is just the little more motivation to sit an additional hour. Look forward to adding to here Saturday morning for the opener.

2018 updates from the field
Central Wisconsin sit 2:30 - 5. 10 sightings including (2) 1 1/2 year olds. Following a doe, but still surprisingly weary. One offered a picturesque 25 yard broadside shot, whilst standing with head behind tree. I spend a lot of time in my pickup for my business and surprised at the lack of chasing sightings this year.
Neighbors girlfriend took out a very large 10 pt last night at dusk running across rt 12 , his buddy had it on a camera on the adjoining property, he was hoping to get it. When he got there an 80 mph collision isn't good for the meat I guess. Her truck is a mess.
Saw quite a few deer in fields yesterday driving around while bird hunting.
Saw an "ancient" buck on the edge of Watertown this morning. I almost hit him and we both stopped dead just 20 yards apart. As I sat admiring him, I couldn't help but notice his "gnarly" 8 point rack that had more character than length at this point. And he had the grayest face I've ever seen. He seriously looked like a mule deer. It was very cool!
Crawford county, weather was brutal Friday, not much better Saturday. Saw one doe close half dozen others not close. Four hours this morning, nothing, think its time to put the bow away and take my 0-3 this season, two over one under. Think I need more practice or a little luck. What's the price of beef ?
