So far there are around 19,900 permits applied for from 37 different states!!!! Lots of people wanting in the action!

Not enough, and by the way, back in the 30's(Aldo era) our DNR hunted wolves with dogs.

Would killing all of the vermin be to many? there was a reason this vermin was killed off by our grand fathers.

How many shells can you fit in your pockets? Can you honestly tell me what good they serve and how did this get so out of hand?

the dnr is only making $10000 for the sale of the tags , to make them more revenue and give us normal hunters a chance at a wolf they should auction off a number of tags to the highest bidder and only charge the people applying the application fee. the sales of the application fees is the big money maker anyway. but again id rather see the season structured more like sturgeon spearing were everyone can buy a tag for $20 and the season closes when they hit there quota. maybe after two of the 100 tags they give out this year get filled they'll realize that they'll need a lot more hunters and trappers in the woods to start bringing the wolf numbers back down to were they should be.

A whole lot more than last year!

Wolves can hunt 365 days a year and with a growing population that is not good for any animal they prey on. I don't think they all need to be killed but they need to be controlled.

What some fail to see is that in the west they are and have long been faced with a real crisis caused by the wolf. All kinds of methods are being used to kill them. It isn't so much hunting, it's removal of what has become a parasite. Doesn't matter how you kill them, just so you kill them. This is what happens when the government gets involved where that have no business. They're getting their states back in order out there but it's going to take time. Many years before moose, elk, and deer numbers can recover. Once they get wolf numbers where they belong, some would say non-existent but let's say very low, then you can have a reasonable hunting season to control that number. Until then it's on!

Wolves have contributed to the lower deer numbers. No denying that. However, you have blinders on if you think wolves kill as many deer as 700,000 gun and bow hunters with unlimited anterless tags. Low deer numbers are due more to a combination of over harvest of anterless deer for the last decade and then back to back rough winters. Hopefully, this mild winter will help the deer bounce back. How many wolves will be killed this year...hopefully all of them!!
