when do the bear cubs leave the den

They will come out when the weather warms up, but if there is little food to forage they will return to a den. Bears do not actually hibernate but go into a 'torpor' where their body temperature drops, but not to within a few degrees of the surrounding temps. This allows them to conserve energy but also be able to wake up quickly and run if the need arises. These late springs are hard on a sow since the cubs are now between 5-8 lbs each, active and feeding heavily. Her body fat reserves are now reaching a critical point for re-supply, as are the young bears from last year. The old males or dry sows will be the last to emerge from the dens in spring.
Was wondering the same thing after having bear in my back yard the last two nights.
Found this;
Females will breed every other year
from then on. Mating takes place from June to early
July. During the 225-day gestation period, the
fertilized egg experiences delayed implantation until
late November or early December. Females then
give birth to two to three cubs in January or early
February while they are still in their winter sleep!
Cubs will first venture into the world
with their mother in late March. They remain with
their mother through the summer and usually den
with her the following winter. In the springtime, the
mother will chase off the cubs so she can breed
again.
