Washington Island for smallies

I'm thinking of heading up to Washington Island this weekend for smallies, any info would be great as I've never been there before. Good time to go, patterns, anything would be helpful..

I have a friend that lives on the island. I knew they had different regs but they change them so much you never know.

nice catch... special open season and size limit for certain areas around Wash Island... wonder if they mark those areas with buoys ??

Look on page 66. It says July 1st and a 12ins size limit within a 1/4 mile of washington island township. Not sure about the early catch and release.

Washington Island is considered part of the Northern Zone for LM and SM Bass Management Zones (see attached regulations)

SO, you CAN fish for Smallies based of the following

"Northern Zone

May 5 to June 15—Catch and Release only.

June 16 to March 3—Minimum length limit of 14" with a daily bag limit of 5 fish in total."

Wisconsin-Michigan boundary waters - catch and release

First Saturday in May to the Friday preceding third Saturday in June

Wisconsin-Michigan boundary waters - harvest

Third Saturday in June through November 30

The season "does not" open until July 1st.

I'm sure residents know and would call in on someone fishing for smallies.
