I found this info on another website and thought I would share it here. We need every one that cares about waterfowl to take a few minutes to help the waterfowl of North America-
Many of us from across the country who are waterfowlers has heard about Gulf Coast marshes that are disappearing on North Americas largest wintering grounds. Many of us also know about the major oil rig disaster that struck that region 2 years ago ( Deep Water Horizon ) Since then there has been measures taken that would in fact utilize the penalties levied on those responsible for the disaster to help restore that vital coastal habitat. It's called the Restore Act, which would take 80% of the fines and apply them to the restoration and recovery of this vital area. However YOUR Congressmen or Congresswoman have purposely not taken any action to Support the Restore Act and appropriately apply those fines to the area hit by this federal disaster, as they should be.
You can change that as a duck hunter of this country by simply calling this number. 1-202-224-3121 and request that you speak with your Senator or Representative from your region. When you do all you have to say is that you want them to support and pass the Gulf Coast ( Restore Act )
Guys & Gals this is the easiest thing you can ever do today to make sure that the revenues / fines levied on this disaster are spent and applied to the effected area and not sucked up into the bureaucracy of entitlement budget program shortfalls. This is about forcing them to do the right thing.
Make your call today and tell your DC congressmen to Support the Gulf Coast ( Restore Act ) Today. For many across this country who might say, it's not in my back yard forget it, let me remind you that the vast majority of North Americas Waterfowl populations call the Gulf Coast it's wintering Home range and any effects the region suffers will ultimately have lasting impacts to overall populations of waterfowl. Some impacts are not as easily identified or impacts quickly realized, mother nature has a slow way of showing us the true impacts over a long period of time. Generally we do not see them at the time but we do come to realize the consequences many years later when things have reached the cliff if you will.
Please make that call today and please check out the status of our Coastal Marshes & Wetlands that are vital to the future of North Americas Waterfowl Populations.
