Reels

I fish walleye on the Mississippi until ice closes the river. When it gets colder the drag on the spinning reels I have,Okuma, slips and won't tighten I don't know if the pads in the reel contract with the cold or what. Anyone else have this problem or a solution

I use Fireline with backer , but the problem is the drag slips not the line.

Are you using super lines? And if so do you have backing on your spool?
