Woodcock reports!!!

Might as well start this thread for those of us who chase the timberdoodle. Let use know the date and what county you found your doodles in.

Right, two weeks. I'm not actually interested in woodcock. Maybe should've posted in grouse thread. Mainly wanted to see if they've mostly migrated out now that the season is over.

Wisconsin Woodcock season closed weeks ago.

Any reports, have the woodcock started to really clear out?

Last weekend in Iron cty I flushed 4 close to the river/low lands.

I was in the UP 11/6 - 9. Could've easily shot several limits of WC on the 6th had they been in season. They were gone the next day.

Of course the last weekend of WC hunting I put up one. I was able to break free for a few hours and grouse hunt. Put up 6 wc with very nice points and easy shots. Go figure.

Is anyone still seeing woodcock in the northwoods? I am thinking of making one last trip on Sunday and would like to hear some feedback. Thanks.

Late report. Hunted 4 days in northern Oneida county last week. Found a good number of 'Doodles but no big Concentrations. Pretty spread out. Grouse numbers seem good. Lots of leaves still last weekend made for tough shooting. I'll try around home this weekend for the timberdoodle.

I was out around home Wood County allot of woodcock around should of got a limit but ended up with 2, I hunted for a hour and 15 min. Heading out on Sat morning if someone would like to go, I have a German Wire Hair Pointer thats allot a fun to hunt over.

Birds seem to be trickling into the south east region. Had 5 flushes yesterday in fond du lac county. Only one shot fired and it wasn't a good one. It's still a jungle out there. Underbrush is still green as green can be but at least I'm starting to move birds.

Been a good start to the season. Seems the local birds had a couple successful hatches. My little Griff, Abby has been on fire with grouse and woodcock

Went out for a few hours today in central WI I ended up with 2 Woodcocks the dog had many points just to many leaves to get a good shot. Allot more Woodcock around then last week

Poked around in the northern kettle moraine a little this weekend. Nothing here yet. Hopefully the cooler temps this week will get birds moving south. I wish woodcock didn't open so early in southern Wisconsin. Seems like the season is half over before the 'Doodles get here.

Sorry for the late reply, it was NE of Merrill. My dad said a couple seemed to struggle to fly so must of been mother and 2 young ones. Brother jumped another woodcock this weekend.

Assuming up north somewhere? Were 2 chicks and 1 adult? Good to hear.
