Everyone sitting out because of the rain.. Don't do it!!!! I've had some of the best turkey hunts i've ever had during rain.. the Birds seem to love it. just some friendly advice, if you can sit through it chances are it will be worth it. They are far less talkative though which makes it very similar to deer hunting. Patience is key. good luck!

Does anybody have any info on how to get a turkey registered with the nwtf? On april 12th i took a tom with three beards and a weight of 25.6 lbs(unofficial). Never thought of having it scored, but the guys at work said i should. My bird is at the taxidermist (mount on hold now). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Got this gobbler at 9:45 am today in Calumet county. Very little gobbling (even on the roost). I had two different toms gobble once each around 8:30 am and then they clammed up. This one came into come soft calling (purrs, clucks, and some yelps) 8" beard and 1" spurs. Cool

Very poor day in the blind today. 13 hours and didn't hear a gobble. Did have a fired up hen come into the decoys.

My 11yo boy scored a big fat tom Sunday morning in the rain. His first tom...gotta jake last spring. We hunted youth hunt, then first season fri and saturday with a close encounter with a tom on Fri morning. He knew sunday was his last chance, and wanted to go out in the rain. We got soaked, but he "sucked it up" (in his words) and we were able to call an aggressive tom out of the woods from the hens. Did a good job waiting for a shot he was comfortable with as he didn't have a good angle at first...even though the bird was close. Pics kinda cruddy because everything was wet, including camera. he put lot of time in, and it paid off. Could have easily said screw it with the weather sunday morning. nope..go time.

26.2lbs (dry weight), 10.25in beard, 1" spurs.

I have hunted in zone 3 and if you do your homework there is a lot of public land that does not get hit out by the Mead. I have shot several birds out there, when my old standbys are dried up or I just want to have a change of pace. As far as any public land, there is a lot of birds on them all over the zone. In my history on LL, asking another hunter for thier spot is tougher to me than going out next weekend in the area you want to hunt, looking for birds and knocking on a door.

Calling all Lake-Linkers:

I just found out this weekend that my son won't be able to hunt the farm we used to hunt in Westfield as it has changed ownership. (Would have been nice to find this out a little bit more than 2 weeks before his hunt!)

So, my 16 year old, who has yet to seal the deal on his first Tom has no place to hunt.

So...I'm asking...Does anybody have a private farm that we could sit on in Zone 3 during the 3rd period? I know beggers can't be choosers, but I want him to have action.

I don't have much to offer as I'm a victim of the economy, but I would toss in a case of beer or something in appreciation.

I don't have time or resources to scout a new piece. He gets awesome grades and is a great kid. I would hate to let him down by dragging him into some public land in the dark that we've never been to.

Private message me if you are willing.

Much appreciated, Chris
