Turkey Hunting
Turkey hunting scope
3/7/13 @ 4:17 PM
i'm thinking about putting a scope or red dot on my turkey gun because my pattern is substantially off, no matter what shells i use. i'd like a red dot, but worry about batteries dying or forgetting to turn it on. do any of you use a scope, if so, what would you suggest? thanks!

I've used both scopes and red dots and I much prefer the red dot for turkey hunting. Get a quality one ie. not a $50 NcStar or BSA, as for batteries they last a long time now and they're simple to replace so just carry a spare on you although I've got years out of a battery.
Be wary of the cheaper red dot's available as there is substantial recoil from the shotgun that they most likely won't hold up to. I put a Bushnell Holographic on mine last fall that I inherited several years ago. It's probably over 10 years old. Been told it's an early version Eotech. Not sure about that but it does look just like them. Used it on my muzzleloader for a few years.
