thoughts on spring decoy setup

what is everyones thought on your decoy setup? the past 4 years ive been using a single hen, with a single jake. that has produced me a bird every year except for one, however, i come across a bunch mature birds that will hang up just outside of shooting range.. i do however get a lot of juveniles (jakes) that will rush right in and act agressive. i have seen lots of people use the full strut decoys and do well.. i get confused because you would think early season the big mature birds would be more agressive twards a jake decoy.. any advice or expirences youve had would be great. thanks

My personal favorite is one tom or jake decoy and 3 or 4 hens, then again the birds I usually hunt either get a ton of pressure on neighboring private land and the ratio of males to females is 1 to 10 or I call at some in the northwoods that only get hunted by me unless my dad beats me to the blind. Shot/called in 15 birds to this setup in the last 3 years.
I personally don't use decoys anymore and have had more success without them. I still have birds hang up sometimes but then I don't make another sound and most of the time curiosity gets the best of them and they come lookin.
Its hard not to call when they are standing there 70 yds away and not getting closer but it works...on the birds around me anyways. Had. 2 Tom's hang up on me 2 years ago. It took 15 min of silence but they eventually walked the rest of the way in.
Not saying decoys don't work..because they can. But give the naked set up a try once.
