Well, my hunting partner and I were able to get out today!! We got into the woods around 1:30 or so in the afternoon and set up one pop up blind on one of the ridges where they roost and one of the hills where there was a lot of sign. We were about 150 yards apart.
Did not get a thing!!
I did a drive around 4:00-4:15 or so towards my friends field and saw 4 nice size turkeys just heading into the woods at the end of the field. Tried to go around to where they were headed and thought I might drive them to my partner, but to no avail!! We both heard some turkeys later in the day towards close, but nothing came our way!!
We did spook up some deer. Not as many as we usually do though. With the rain and later fog, it made it hard to hunt. With the leaves tamped down with water, you can't hear anything coming towards you in the woods. Not much seemed to be on the move today, and there were not as many acorns this year as there have been. (Probably due to the drought) The drought did a number on the mustard weed!! (This is good!!) It also does not taste bad if you are in a pinch!!
There seemed to be others out today, although not in our direct vicinity as we heard several shots in the distance....(Could be duck hunters!!)
We packed it in just before close to grab some chow before heading home!!
Tight Lines and safe shooting to all!!

Hey guys!!
Well, my hunting and fishing partner and I are going to get out into the turkey woods on Sat. Oct. 13, 2012 around mid-morning to give it a go!!
With the destruction of most of the grain due to the drought this year, it will be interesting to see what kind of activity is in the woods!! One would think the turkey's would be searching for any type of mast they can find..... Gonna' try to set up on a hill where there is an abundance of acorns......
Will get a post up.
Take Care all and stay safe!!!
Catch you in the woods........
