Trout Fishing
Columbia Co.

Newbee to Columbia Co. seeking advice. OK guys, I'm new to the area and have never fished for trout in my life. I live very close to Duck Cr. Jennings. and Roelke Cr. I've got the itch to give this a shot. It looks like small spinners, rapalas, and jigs should get me started. Fly rod is not an option until I get some practice in the yard. lol. I'm looking for advice from people in the area that have some time on these waters. Any help would be a good thing! Thanks in advance.

Only other streams not mentioned yet in Col Co. ar Hinkson Cr. that flows into Rowan and across the Wis. River in the bluffs are Rowley and Prentice. Many more as you go farther west through the drifltless area towards the Mississippi. Also, counties to the north of here have some nice streams. Plenty of info on the DNR website.
I've only fished a couple streams in columbia county (i guess there isn't very much trout water anyway) But i've fished Spring creek in Lodi, and Rowan Creek in poynette. I personally like Spring creek more, but both have quite a few fish!
look for deep areas, often times corners are good, and look for cover such as logs or undercut banks.
also I would say to fish standing downstream from where the fish are, since most fish will be looking upstream.
