Browns through the ice?

I used to fish the Manitowoc Marina when I lived there and I caught a lot of browns and bows. I just used a white pinky jig with rainbow spawn. Skein seemed to be the best, but spawn sacs were fine too. The fresher the spawn the better it worked. Bows are a lot of fun, they really fight. I think I used 6 lb test. I caught them on tip ups with minnows too. I started out using golden shiners and one day I didn't have any so I threw on some larger fat heads just for the heck of it and caught 2 fish. After that I just picked out the biggest fat heads I could find since they were cheaper and used those. I didn't really notice any difference with them. Most fish I got were jigging though.

I've fished the Manitowoc R. as well as the Manty. Marina for Salmonids; both jigging and on 'Automatic-Fisherman'. Jigging for them proved the most fun as well as most productive for me. A very simple set-up I used for jigging: St.Croix MH Legend Ice [LIRA24MH>,a 4-6# fluoro leader,micro-swivel tied to #10 Frieline. Bait-varies w/H2O conditions of course. Best results have been on a variety of jig-heads w/a sturdy gauge hook tipped w/a dime-sized spawn sac[pref. Brown T. spawn>. Oh yeah-the reel: An AbuGarcia 300U. Well I didn't catch these through the ice but I was standing on ice in the middle of a river and I did set out tip-ups I just wasn't using a little jigging rod. I was casting, it was a awesome weekend tons of action!
