Betty the Beaver Tail, Danny the Dragonfly Larvae, Sherri the Shrimpo, Willy the Wiggler and Maggie the Maggot.
I've gotten too attached to them to use them as bait. I've asked my wife if I can keep them.
But seriously, I don't know the name of them but I have some tiny black straight tapered tails that dance nicely on a jig. Gills and crappies love them. I'm also a big fan of the new Gulp! larvae. I especially can't wait to use them in spring for pannies.
I tried Berkley Micro Nymphs last year and they did fairly well. They are a bit bigger than I would prefer, but I did find that when fishing in a back-bay on the Mississippi River that the smaller fish left it alone. The bigger fish were the ones to step up to the plate. Gills, perch, crappie and the occasional starvin' walleye seem to like 'em just fine.
