Vertical jigging a crazy angler slab bandit over a brush pile or stakebed for big ol' slab crappie!

A black nuclear ant below a slip bobber and a white gulp maggot. Catches: Crappie, Bluegill, Perch, Bullhead, Catfish, Pike, and Carp. Cool

I subscribe to the KISS method, a 1/32 round jig under a float, tipped with redworm or a piece of nightcrawler,

I agree with Whitetail Wrangler, except I have a thin plastic tail and a waxie on the ice jig. I dont even bother with minnows most days even for crappie or perch, except on some spots where they are preferred by the fish. Most spots my ice jig rig will catch anything

i like to use a blade of a swedish pimple with an extension of about and inch or so of line with a small tear drop jig, the blade not only gives it a little more flash but gets the presentation down to the fish quicker. Wink

I use a small bobber with an ice jig under it. Light is good. For crappies, i'll use a minnow. Otherwise worms for perch and gils. Last year I cut up some gulp and the gils tore it up. One tail got my wife and I a limit.

For perch, I use a slip bobber and ALWAYS check my depth with a weight. I watched many of people scratch thier heads when all they had to do is check the depth of thier bobber.

my favorite......hook and bobber....nothing extravagant. or maybe a small 1/64 oz jig head under a bobber with a piece of worm on it. but then again i don't fish panfish too often....most of the time it's to try to catch bait. Lips Sealed as far as the debate about the number of baits....the number of rods has nothing to do with it. you can of 3 baits on 3 rods....or 3 baits on one rod....or some combination that adds up to...you guessed it...3 baits Big Smile

I think you would be hard pressed finding a warden to say that a multi-hook crappie rig only counts as one "line" whether there is a bead/spinner above it or not.

Normal crappie rigs by say Eagle, are always rigged with a swivel on top. So some would say one "lure". Still, like someone said, time to ask a warden. But I bet yah those will differ.

For gills I like to use quarter chunks of crawler weightless under a Rocket Bobber. Six pound test and a small octopus hook. Have found that Rocket Bobbers do not stay fixed with four pound test. You can cast this rig a mile. Love to see the bobber go from horizontal to vertical or start to move move off to the side-fish on!!!

Crappies- just the standard crappie minnow with a small splitshot reeled in slowly. Do all my crappie fishing at the Monona Terrace and have had much success until last year. The worst crappie fishing I've had there in five years. Always have the potential of catching other minnow eaters as well. RAT.

I learned this trick from a good friend Crazy Dave, when the Crappies or gils are in clear shallow water we use a #12, #10 size black dry fly about a ft or two below a small bobber (NO SPLIT SHOT) with or without a waxie or a spike, here's the deal that rig sinks so slow that the big gils and crappies just can't resist it, you watch that black fly under water(not the bobber) as it sinks ever so slowly and all of a sudden its gone, time to set the hook! if you use it with out spikes or waxies you should work the fly between your fingers under water for a few seconds so it gets a little water logged before you start fishing with it(only need to do this just one time). Make sure you bring extra flies as they tear them up, don't forget the hemostats as the will inhale these things!

#10 or #12 ice jig or Aberdeen hook under a bobber. Attach redworm. Catch fish. Clean fish. Eat fish. MMMMMMMM, bluegills...
