Waterfowl hunting in the U.P.

We own wetlands property in the N Central U.P. I've done all types of waterfowl hunting, mostly years back. The place with the most ducks was a shallow lake planted with wild rice by my grandfather, it was a sea of rice. There were 1000's of ducks there at peak times. That particular remote lake was all bought out & now is very difficult to get to. The rice has also run it's course & was gone last I looked.

Some of the best hunting is near farmland. Remote areas have some ducks & geese but not the food. I see more ducks down here in WI, near farmland. The best time on our property is just before dark, with some bad weather thrown in. We've bagged some nice 'greenheads' during snow squalls late in the season.
