Still hoping for some late ice to form. Big Smile Started the season off good with two nice limits of crappie and gills, Castle Rock. Tried some other areas of the WI river for gills and had very little luck. January was great for walleye on the river, nice 23"-26" fish. Pike were hard to come by, musky seem to have taken over. Caught many a musky. Once we got out on Big Green lake it was laker heaven. Fish on! Late ice was gone fast and not worth the risk. Got out on the ice at least 30 days, overall I give the season a B+ for the quality and quantity of fish.

It Sucked!! While I did catch some Walleyes on Winnebago this year, not like years past. Only made it out a handfull of times. What really sucked is my worst day all year was during Battle on Bago.

From the standpoint of getting my 5 year-old hooked on ice fishing, A++++++. He is already making plans for next year, what lakes we're going to fish, and new things for me to buy (ATV, new truck).

Length of season: F! Lousy ice in SE Wisconsin

Size of fish: C+. Reason is I intentionally targeted a lake with lots of small pike to keep my son enthused. IT WORKED!!

Frozenman. Nice, way to stay with it. What happens in some of these cases is that you have a Perch or something transfixed on your presentation. Along comes a slimer that wants the baitfish and gets hooked as it takes the Gill or Perch.

Last year I was lucky enough to be ice fishing in northern wisconsin the first week in April. This year I didn't even get out ten times in southern wisconsin. (no northwoods trips this year) The few times I was able to make it out the fishing was very good, but I am left with a feeling of quantity over quality. 3/10.

Frozeman - Your full of it. No way that happened. You can't catch muskies on a jig rod. The season was closed. You hurt the fish. Your pic is misleading. Why did you take a pic? Your rod looks 18". You must have had 20 lb test. You caught it on a tip up and took a pic with your rod. Looks like a blue pike to me.

That's all I have for now, hope it helps. Cool

If you regularly fish Green Bay like a bunch of people like to do, it can be summed up in one word....short!

I had an ok year. I will give it a 7 on a scale of 1-10. Not a lot of fish however the quality of the fish were good. Only ended up keeping 2 fish this year and all the others went back in the hole. Won one ice fishing tourney on a nice crappie and also kept one nice bass. Did not get out as much as last year because of a new job. Actually my permanant shack never left the driveway this year.

We released this one back into an 80 acre lake because we Hate Baby Ducks. Don't worry the blood wasn't real bad and it swam off strong.

Had a very good year on the walleyes, and a couple days of very big perch. Walleye fishing was good until just after the 1st of the year and then I went on a few day trips to Mille lacs in Minnesota and caught a lot of walleyes and nice size. You can't keep any between 18"-28", but they sure are fun to catch in 30ft of water. Ended the year walleye fishing on Lake of the Woods and it was another great trip. We went of the beaten path and got a lot of walleyes and some huge perch. If you ever want a good ice fishing trip I highly recommend that one. Biggest walleye for the year was 30" in MN and the biggest perch was 14.5" and 1.9LB.

Pretty good season all together. Early ice had a good walleye bite as well as a few throughout January. The crappies were biting well all winter and totaly on fire the last few weeks. Gills were pretty decent whenever I targeted them. Perch were so-so but I only fished for them a couple times. A couple trips to Chequamegon bay were alot of fun! The coho and browns were cooperative. One day out on Trout lake for whitefish got me a few. A few pike picked up as bonus fish.

I fished in Oneida, Vilas, Forest and Licoln counties. I guess I was out about 40 to 50 times.

Overall I'd say a solid "B". Another few weeks of ice could have made it an A+.

Decent year, best of all was the lack of meat hungry monsters quadruple dipping. I don't think their wives would let them out on the ice this year. Big Smile I did more panfishing than I ever have. It was a blast, especially throwing 8-9" back in the hole while others watch, haha.

Frozen, the story seems pretty legit. Not a good thing to fight a fish for a long time. Pretty much kills them, I'm not sure of the chemical a fish releases during stress but it's not good for them. I'd cut the line next time or tighten the drag. Nice fish!

Nothing? No,your full of it etc? TRUE STORY, THE PIC DOESN'T LIE. And yes, after that feat, my ego does need stroking! Seriously, that is an HONEST account of what happened. P.M. me and I'll give you my cell number and send you the pics from my phone and tell you the whole story unembellished.

Two things sucked in regards to walleyes: One lake I usually fish for walleyes had almost none shallow. Weedline jigging at sun-up and sun-up was a waste of time. The other lake I usually fish had open water over several of my favorite spots all winter long. On another lake, there were very few shallow fish. Since that lake has an 18" minimum size,I really don't like fishing deep.I did catch a few legal fish from 35'fow,most the shorts appeared able to survive release.

Bluegills? OK,but there WAS no late ice season.

I'd give it a barely passing grade of D.
