Ice Fishing
Ice Fishing Idiots
2/1/11 @ 8:11 PM
Another form of the "Boat Launch Idiots" thread. I saw a post on the fish reports for Wind Lake that someone was complaining after he went out and got stuck in his poor excuse for a vehicle, alot of trucks drove by without helping him out. Why would anyone not realize that their vehicle was questionable on the way out and not turn around and go back? Lazy would be my guess. I feel no sympathy for idiots like that and I'd drive by as well.

Just seen my first real IFI. Went out on my smoking deck and hear tires spinning. Look out on the lake and there are headlights shining about 75 yards from the landing. Spun the tires and finally got the vehicle headed back toward the ramp and then silence. Don't know where they are now. Alot of slush and water on top of the ice so I really don't know what they were thinking.
VIN
11pm and still a good 40 yards from shore.
This one time I was fishing and these guys are runing snowmobiles on a 200 acre lake very fast probably 70-80 mph and are running over tip-up after tip-up and just keep going they got everyone on the lake mad and they then went on a snowmoble trail and we never saw them again.
December 2013, My dad and I were out on Tripp Lake in Walworth County doing some bluegill fishing. Only had 8 fish between the 2 of us when a Warden walks up to the shack and asks to see our licenses. My dad and I both show our licenses and he then asks how many fish we've caught. I tell him that were having a real slow morning and we only have 8 gills so far, which you could clearly see on the ice. The warden then asks who's fish are who's. This is when i had it figured that Walworth County recieved a new game warden because the guy was both young, and dumb!! I calmly stated to the warden that he could come back when we had 26 fish on the ice and ask that question again.
Do some people not know that there auger has dull blades or what?
Several times this winter I watched guys drill away on holes for several minutes before they got through the ice. Last weekend the guy next to me started his auger and started drilling a hole. I decided it was time to add some holes as well. After he started his auger I picked mine up, drilled 3 holes, shut it down, moved to a new hole and caught a crappie before he finished his first hole.
If that was me I would quit ice fishing. It takes 10 minutes to touch up your blades or replace them.
Had holes drilled and shanty set up by 5am on a brushpile on Castle Rock saturday morning to try and catch some crappies. Well we had a good mess of fish under us and were fine tuning our presentations when a Ford F250 pulls up 10 yards from our shanty and gets stuck. After canning it in forward and reverse a dozen times they finally got unstuck and two guys proceeded to each set up a flip-over shanty within 10ft of our shanty. Now i could almost understand this on a popular bay of a smaller lake or something where you're fishing a**es to elbows, but on a 14,000 acre lake when we are on a brush pile along the river channel. they drilled 10-12 holes and scared all our fish away, but not a big deal as it was only 7am. Well then another group came and did the same thing, set up w/in 10 yards. Finally another group. At this point it was 8am and i could walk out of our shack, take one step and be able to piss on 2-3 other shacks, again on a 14k acre lake with no one else around. After the 4th group got there we packed up our stuff and left.
Am i the only one who would find another spot even if you had to fish new territory or give the people who were there a little bit of space? I mean even if there was one shanty on the brush pile i was going to fish i would let them have it for the day and go to my next spot. But 4 fricken groups of shacks within a 15 yard circle...are you kidding me?
