Ice Fishing
Navionics Droid App
11/23/10 @ 4:07 PM
Anyone tried the Navionics app for their Droid? Looking to get some input before purchasing it… It’s only $14, so I know I wouldn’t be out a ton of money, especially compared to buying a GPS and the SD card but still interested if it’s worth it or not. If it works I think my ice fishing season will become more interesting hitting new spots!

I downloaded mine last month so it came with the January update.
So far with my limited use of it I like it. I had it up on the Manitowish Chain last weekend and it was spot on. It does suck battery usage though so start with a fully charged phone before fishing an you will be good.
Hey Gents:
Thinking about getting this app for my new device, shows in the marketplace, that the app was updated in January 2012, can you let me know you all like it, and what the most recent update affected??
How is it on your device performance (meaning, is it a resource hog)?
I just purchased the Droid app and I'm not receiving contours for all the lakes. I noticed there are boxes and some lake's contours start/stop at the box edge. An example is I get contour for Lake Waubesa, but not Monona or Mendota. There is red line between Waubesa and Monona. Has anyone else had this problem?
w8n4ice, I was having the same issue when trying to install on my HTC Thunderbolt this past weekend. What I would suggest is uninstalling the app off your old phone if you have not done so yet. Also, I believe that there was an update yesterday for the app, so maybe try uninstalling on the new phone also and just starting over completely. Took about an hour to download the charts for my phone on a good 3G connection. Hope that helps!
This thing is taking FOREVER to download. It's at 12%....been downloading since 9:00 last night. I bought it and installed it on a Samsung Acclaim back in December. Took about 2 hours to install and worked no problem. Just bought an HTC Desire and am installing but taking forever. Fairly fast WiFi connection. Any thoughts? It's a great App......if I can get it to load!!!
Illinois is NOT included in Lake Maps North it is in Lake Maps East. Separate charts for that...not sure a phone has enough room to store both sets of charts??
If anyone is curious which lakes are included you can go here: http://navionics.com/MobileLakeList.asp?RegionID=1&ContinentID=5&MobileType=Android for Maps North
to see other regions lakes go here and click on the map region: http://navionics.com/MobileLakeCharts.asp?ContinentID=5&MobileType=Android
I would like to get this for my Droid 2, was wondering if anyone has the lake maps for the wisconson /northern ILL area. My question is does it have Long lake in washburn co wisconson and Crystal lake in McHenrey co ILL. Those are the lakes I fish the most. Any input would help...dont wanna buy it if there not mapped, thanks
The Droid 5.1 Navionics update finally came out which fixed any glitches that I was having...the camera now works and the twitter, facebook and email interface now works as well. Pretty sweet for app $13. They added more charts also, so the update, just like the original upload will take some time
no pinch zoom..
So far I am loving this App. Here is a little more info from them :
Thank you for providing this information. At this time, we are gathering information and providing all of it to our app developers. We will be in touch with you just as soon as we have more details about how your issues will be resolved.
Also, the pinch to zoom function is currently not available on the Navionics Mobile apps for Android. This feature will probably be added with an upcoming update to the app.
If you need any additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.
Pinch zoom would be really nice.
