I think the key to stop the problem is to buy a thermal ice shack with no spray because my dad has a Jason Mitchell two man that he has had for 2 seasons now and he has had no problems. So for next year I plan on buying a thermal ice shack with no spray it sure drives me crazy I have to buy another ice shack for next year and I have to dish out more money after I just spent a lot on this one why can't you buy an ice shack for cheap anymore and it can't be great quaility!
Actually there is a full thermal Nanook I should of bought a thermal one for duability, I know because my dad has a Jason Mitchell two man and he has had no problems like this even though he uses it all the time. I probably might sell this one and save up money for a thermal one man ice shack once I get a new canvas I tell you what I will never by a shack with black coating on the inside again.
No current option without the black coating on the Nanook. The only options Clam offers without the backing are the full thermal options (Jason Mitchel line-up). Like I said, I have the ProTC with the thermal top. I like it because when you are running a heater you don't get the condensation on the roof material that eventually drips on your head.
OK, so I have been shopping around at Fleet, Gander and Cabela's and I was steering more toward the Clam Nanook because of the low-profile sled. The Frabill version has this huge clobbering sled that would never fit in our vehicles. I've watched TONS of review videos on Youtube, but of course, you can't find a comprehensive review of any of their shacks without Dave Genz being the reviewer. Is there a model without the blackout material on the inside? Also, should I opt for the Thermal model if it means durability? I'd like to hear how others who have these models have fared! Thanks!
i had similar problems canvas problems with my clam hub shelter. i used a product called plastidip on my canvas. never got the canvas warrantied but did get a new hub pole and grommet kit from them on warranty. their customer service was pretty easy to deal with. i agree with most on here, i dont think their quality is what it used to be. that goes for frabil too. i have a one man shack made by shappell and have nothing but good things to say about it. good price and made in america. check them out.
