Who's got their eye on a new handgun? What are you going to use it for?

Me? What I really want is a Springfield 1911 Range Officer for target shooting (at some point I'd like to get into competitive shooting). Could be a little while before I'm able to save up for it though. My next LIKELY handgun purchase is a Ruger LC9 for CCW.

Kahr CM40. They are around, but they haven't flooded distribution by any stretch. Once RSR gets them in stock, I'll have the local FFL order one in.

It's not left-hand friendly, so I guess I'll stay with my Diamondback DB-9. It's smaller and lighter than the SW anyway....

JJB, how's the accuracy in D/A vs. S/A? What length barrel did you get?

tuc27, I have a S&W 22s with the bull barrel. Thousands of rounds through it, very reliable. The sights are not great and the plastic piece that is part of the recoil system has worn out many times, but S&W is great about replacing them.

However I also have a "loaded" as well as other 1911's and if you are going in that direction, I recommend the GSG 1911. It functions the same, feels about the same and is also very reliable.

Good luck

Well Coach I finally got to shoot my new 100 yesterday. Very nice shooting gun. Might have to pick one up in a 44 to.

I picked that one up for just over $300. I could have saved about $20 by ordering it online and having it shipped to a FFL but I decided to give the local guy the business...

Hill of no fishes...How much did you pick up that Neos??? for? I've been looking at one of those or a S&W 22A. I have shot both but like the S&W because it seems more left hand friendly.

Also, I am looking at a Springfield 1911 "Loaded" w/adj sights as my first 1911. Does anyone have experience with it or any advice. So far the best price I can find is about $900. Not a drop in the bucket by any means, but I have been saving and the boss says I have to stay under a grand. So if anyone has any cheaper alternatives (need one w/adj sights and lefty friendly out of the box) or a better price let me know!

Thanks Andy

Added picture of new Neos along w/ the rest of the Beretta family in my safe. Went to the range with it today and by the time I left I had 2" groupings at around 10 yards. Good enough for me Smile

Steve, The DB9 looks like a nice sized carry gun. My only concern would be nothing bigger then 124gr or +P ammo. At that rate you could have gone smaller and got a .380 package. Thanks for the info though, I'm still trying to find a good carry gun. Most of mine are 'field carry' guns and even then get heavy and in the way.
