Interested in peoples opinions as to what you think it will be like when November rolls around. Do you think that businesses will go with a "well, it's state law now, so we'll just accept it" policy? Do you think that every Fleet Farm/Kmart/Piggly Wiggly/QwikTrip will have a sign on the door saying No Weapons Allowed, turning a morning of running errands into a constant process of stowing your weapon because the business won't allow it? Let's hear what everyone thinks.

DOJER makes a lot of sense, IMO, I didn't get the sense that his comments were directed at anyone in particular, but anything's possible. What I took from his post is that, in all seriousness, any firearms related activity is a deadly serious business, and, despite some of the views that have been expressed on this forum regarding 2nd Amendment rights, quality training and prudence should rule the day, the days of the cowboys are well behind us. There are tons of what-if situations to contemplate and discuss, but in the end, it's hard to beat quality training and good judgement. Personally, I enjoy fireams, but perhaps at least in part due to the fact I live in CCW-free Illinois and typically don't travel in particularly dangerous areas, I don't give much thought to CCW (except for when I'm at work selling firearms, but that's a somewhat different discussion). As Phile Esterhaus was known to say each week on Hill Street Blues, "Be careful out there"!

I act the same way as far if the post that was directed towards me. I hardly ever carry unless if im dropping my bank deposits off at the bank.I asked a question regarding liability and business not when or when not I should carry my gun.Last time I checked this is a forum open for public discussion. Most discussions people can freely ask questions and by no means these questions are not regulated by the D.O.J.These answers would ever hold up in court.Thank you for insight if the post was directed to me and my simple question and or the c.c.w and business forum it was posted in. How did you act before concealed carry? If you carry concealed and are confused about when or where to shoot, you need to keep your gun at home. "What if?" questions are best asked in a professional forum or training class, because the amateurish answers posted here can be ill-informed. If you get killed in a store where there is no concealed carry allowed...you will be dead! If you get killed in some other way, you will be dead. When you're dead what happens in life ceases to matter to you. Buy some life insurance....and maybe some liability insurance for when you pull that gun at the wrong time! Like, what if you're loading your gun and it goes off killing your neighbor.....and a million other what-ifs

The law states you can carry in the STATE of Wisconsin. The store is private property and it is their RIGHT to say not here. I respect that right. I realize it can happen, but what is the chance of a robbery and you or I having a gun and intervening without escalating the situation. There IS the possibility if you intervene and someone gets shot by either of you, YOU could be sued.

This is close to what I think frkhunter is concerned about. I have a conceal carry permit and I am carrying. I have to go in a store that as a no Guns sign in the window. I can't boycott this store because what I need I can't get anywere else. So I obey the law and keep the gun in my truck. while in the store someone comes in armed to rob the store and I get shot or killed. What can I or my family do? Is the store liable for my injuries or death? The Law says that I can Carry but the stores says not in my store.

Here is the question I have my C.C.W permit and cannot have a weapon at work.So if I get robbed on my way into work would they be liable because I cannot defend my self? Has not happened yet but I work in a pretty crappy neighborhood and last year a guy got robbed going into work on their premises?

That makes sense, thanks, Mike. I guess I can't help but wonder whether any of the guys who are adamant about refusing to patronize businesses that prohibit CCW are also willing to quit their jobs if their employer prohibits CCW. I gotta think that has to have come up somewhere along the line.

Don't know if this has been discussed, but what do CCW permit holders do with respect to going to work? Aren't there a number of employers who prohibit firearms in the workplace?

Their legal worry may be the individual who drops their gun as they do business in the restroom, it goes off & hits the person in the next stall. Yes, it's happened before, astronomical odds of course.

I own a small business in Richfield. I was at ADAMM ( Auto Dealers of Metro Milw. ) and heard of another owner asking for No Firearm stickers for his dealership. When I asked him why he told me that he was told by his lawyer that due to insurance issues he needs to have a no firearms policy at his dealership. I then made a call and I'm waiting for a response. I will be PISSED if my insurance trys to put the squeeze on me. If so I already know who I will be contacting.

The whole thought process of businesses who deny the right to CC or people who are afraid of people who are CC'ing is flawed on a fundamental level. Those people have nothing to fear from a permit holding CC'r. This is obviously a law abiding citizen who has followed the rules as they have been set forth to obtain his CC permit. Those signs on the door aren't gonna do anything for someone who has a gun and bad intentions, because they don't care! To adopt a recent event, say I'm eating breakfast in an IHOP in Nevada with my wife and kids. Being a law abiding citizen, I've stowed my carry piece in my truck in accordance with the store policy, even though I don't agree with it. What do they think people are going to do, pull a gun if their hashbrowns aren't crispy enough? The lunatic that comes in the door and starts shooting people couldn't care less about that sign on the door. It doesn't apply to him. Now, as people are dying, and I'm terrified for my family, all I can do is throw a butter knife at the guy. It's backwards logic at it's finest, enacted by people who automatically pair gun and bad together. Capt. Mike is right when he says that 48 other states have this, and there are no incidents. As rabid a crowd as the anti's are, if there had been incidents, they would have been screaming about them from the rooftops. Instead, theres nothing - the sound of silence. My hope is that after the initial fervor of this being "something new" has died down, people realize that nothing has changed, and attitudes will change as well.

johnny law

i know of at least a dozen guys who have not stepped in farm and fleet for almost a year now due to there no firearms policy and everyone of them were a $5000 to $10000 a year spender there me being one of them and i know for a fact that they would decline any and all tickets, invite, or going to a store that denied them their right to protect themselves it sounds lik you might think there are only a few hundred people out there that carry now i would like to say there are thousands of people that carry now on a daily basis and they avooid places that deny them to carry like a plague just go to opencarry.org and ask them one question do you patronize a shop or store or venue if they deny you your rights

Johnny, you crack me up imagining that you have the slightest understanding of how Haack is being talked about (negatively) on many sporting venues like this one.
