I just bought a Sig P938, pick it up today. Palmetto State Armory had them for $499 with $17 to ship. I've been thinking on one for awhile.

ditto-

I believe it is the single radius- It looks and functions the same as my 2012 model 70 featherweight does.

land man, I saw that rifle on the M70 FB page. You will love your M70, I have about 12 of them now and you will never find a better rifle! Does your rifle have a clover leaf tang of a single radius tang? Being that it's a 49 it could have either.

I just got my first Pre-64 Winchester model 70. This one was made in 1949 and is a shooter grade rifle. That is good with me because I want to hunt with it and not just have it sit in the cabinet.

Never can go wrong with the 20 Lawdog! I have lots of shells and 4 20 gauges with a bid in on a side by side. I'll find out tomorrow if I got it. What can I say, I just like 20 gauges. Then earlier in the week, I realized I didn't have a 12, problem solved. Benelli Ultralight now makes its residence here at my house.

lawdog, sounds like a good reason to buy a gun. I bought 9600 30/06 rounds once and then realized I didn't have a 30/06! That was enough of a reason to but an M1.

I just purchased a Sig 227 carry. ACP .45 I am excited to go shoot it this weekend! Shocked how easy it is to get bitten by the gun bug. Tounge Out

A super sweet Winchester 52, 22lr target model. Made in the 30s it is still a contender.

Marineman - Wieland, could be posted to a different thread but tell me I read it wrong. You're NOT intending at shooting Elk at 900-1000 yds with a 270 WSM or any other rifle for that matter.

No, it is not a 1000 yrd elk rifle, though it easily could be. I have a 900 yrd range at my farm and access to to a 1200yrd range. I shoot very frequently at the 700 to 900 yrd distances to maintain my skill sets. As for elk, mules, prongs, and whitetail I prefer to be inside of 500. Shooting over my chrony at 500 yrds yielded an average speed of 3345 at the muzzle and 2110fps at 500 yrds. That equates to almost 1700 foot pounds of energy with a Barnes 140 gr TSX (at 500 yrds). At 1700#, that easily delivers a deathly punch and the scaled data from that would put that bullet at more than enough energy to blow through bone at 1000yrds. All a matter of knowing what and how to use it.

Tikka t3 stainless in .270. Grandpa's old 308 served me well for years, but it was time to try something new and more reliable.
