Getting Started

All, I am hoping for some great advice from all of you. I have spent a couple trips on the big pond and am hooked. I know how to troll and have rod holders etc. I need to know what everyone is using for rods/reels. I want to set up to use 2 boards (thinking 8-9 ft med action with Okuma's) and 7-8 med action for dipsy's. Will Med action work ok. I did not pay close enough attention to rods/reels. Also, what brand are people using for lead/copper. For reels, how much line capacity does everyone run? Thanks to all.

For a 6 rod set up, 2 rods with copper on boards, 2 dipseys (30# power pro or 7 strand wire), 2 1# pound ball rigs down the middle. All set, can cover a big spectrum of the water column and fairly low cost to get started.

I prefer for the $ Okuma cv30's and cv45's...With the right backing a full core fits nice on a 45 and you can get a 6 color on a 30.
