It's my goal to have a home in the northwoods on some water someday. So I've been doing a lot of research to find out what the ideal location for me would be. I'd love to hear first hand from the people that spend a lot of time on these lakes, what would be your ideal body of water to live on in WI and why?

Live on? Boy that's a tough one. Really. My wife and I love the Northwoods, but I don't think we'd (I'd) want to live there year round. I guess it'd be Lake Onalaska. I live only about a mile away now. Lake Pepin would be good too, but a little "far away" from either La Crosse or Minneapolis for my blood.

Dead River Basin in the U.P. I know it's not WI but it's connected and most are Packers fans so their OK.

bug zapper. in my book that is the northwoods. with all the crap going on in wisconsins northwoods i don't care to put my hard earned fishing trip money to waste. not that the fishing is that great since they've drained the lake but it's more of a peaceful thing.

I grew up on the Fox in Kenosha county so rivers are in my blood, I live next to the Mississippi now in Crawford county but the grass is always greener if you know what I mean.
