How many Animals do you eat a year?

How many deer do you or your family eat a year. How do you process it? What else do you eat for wild game.
Usually one to two. Steaks, roast and burger are top three for us.
Brats and breakfast sausage after that. We do it all our selves.
Some are going to hate on me for this. Next year I am planning for four to six. Oldest son just started hunting. Two other sons 8 and 5. The Boys all eat like its going out of style.
Why am I going for four to six?
They love to eat venison. They all help to the best of their age ability in the processing part.
Its organic, pure protein for them and my wife and I.
Going to Mcdonalds for our kids is a treat. You would think they just got a twenty dollar steak eating that junk.
My father takes my oldest hunting as much or more than I do. He is eleven soon to be twelve. So far this year he has 50+ squirrels, one deer, seven turkeys. Still haven't dented the feathered rat population. Yes we ate them all or soon will. I do grid the turkey and add it to the venison burger.
The deer he shot was gone in a month maybe a little more. The other one I got soon to be gone.
I bought a 1/2 cow a year ago and for the cost of that I figure if we harvest six deer or more I break even. I have a few guns, and my bow. No need to buy any more. Will have to buy a few bows down the road. My fahter has a HUGE collection. I get one third of it. Why buy when I get for free someday? Also get to use what ever I want when ever.
My oldest is saving for a .22. Well to buy one from Grandpa. He don't know the money he uses goes back into his college fund. Hey better they buy it and take pride in their purchase.
We are a cross of meat and or trophy hunters. Its not brown and down. I pass a lot of deer bow hunting. Fawns all walk, bow and gun.
Teach them to take nice size deer and maximize the twelve dollar tags.
We hunt ninety eight percent public land. Travel expenses are not that huge. Our cabin is set to be in a trust once my dad goes to a better place. It will be funded for thirty years.
So Once the boys are all of age I see six to eight deer a year. We hunt public that has not been raped. We hunt a large area with few hunters not that far up north. Our harvest is spread out over several square miles.
We are starting to shoot a lot of game. Howver we eat more than most people do.
Heck on Christmas I was playing with my wives phone. Looked up real quick to see the rooster run in front of the van. Made her turn around to pick it up. Gave me a quick look like its Christmas. Said more soup, her dad is impressed what she makes with game.
My Dad was right when he said marry a Doctors daughter.
We eat wild game for the heath and benefit. Plus the joy of providing for ourselves.

My family eats four deer a year. A couple turkeys. Maybe 15 ducks on a good year, 5 geese maybe..A bear every few years..Some squirrels, some rabbits..ANd fish? I don't know..We ate 40 or 50 bluegills, 3 pike and 3 bass with my parents last night alone.
Lots of canned and frozen veggies from the garden, still have squash and taters in the garage. I hate buying meat.
"I don't like meat from the store..it makes me nervous."
Sounds like a bragging thread to me so here it goes. We eat 2deer a year if we can get 2.and plus the small game. We try to get a few tree rats and Bunnys every year. Then there is the spring and fall turkeys we try and shoot each year for thanksgiving meals. Early goose and then the duck and goose season. We get enough ducks and geese that we have enough to make about 10pounds of sausage every year out of them. I also belong to a hunting clue and shoot 25pheasents plus each years and the dove hunting is just phenomenal lately.
Don't know if I want to start on the fishing but here it goes. Love to spring walleye fish and we will leave it at that and then the gills and perch and crappies we have a meal or two a week with them and then I like to get a few salmon to smoke e each year and then I vacuum seal them for the freezer. Try that sturgeon spearing but seem to get one every other year which seems fine when they are over 50 pounds.
The wife did buy a1/4 beef this fall and it is not getting eaten up as fast as we thought it would. We are to used to eating the wild game.
We also cut ,freeze, make jerky, sausage, can, brats and all. The other stuff that goes along with it.
I also won't get started on the big garden we have in the back yard. Seems to be expanding every year. The wife likes to can and make home made salsa each year.
We seem to be always busy either hunting and fishing or taking care and processing the fish and game but the family and the kids love it and we enjoy doing it for them. We have 5 pounds of Benny jerky going on as I write this.
Been lucky enough to put 4 a year in the deep. As with most, I process all my own. Eat ven for lunch 45wks of the yr. I make 4in size sausage for sandwhiches. I make stix, jerky and whatever I feel I want to eat. Whats great about the ven besides the flavor. I know how well it was taken care of. Using vacum sealer I get the best taste even after frezing. I have many times bought large family packs of meat, vacum it and after thawd its brown and nasty looking. I thaw my ven and its nice and red and full of moisture.
Average year for me, my dad and brother eat 3 to 4 adult deer. Dozen ducks and a turkey or two. Plus some walleyes, trout, and salmon.
We could easily eat 8 deer in a year but that matters on how the population is going last couple years me and my dad been letting some deer walk. We cut up our own deer most of it goes to veniburger because we go through that the fastest making tacos, sloppy joe, hamburgers, and ect. We chunk back straps to grill. We cut some jerky and some steaks too. Some years we bring in some meat for hot sticks and sausage if we got enough of the other stuff. This year we got one pack of jerky. The rest went to veniburger. Had a slow year of getting deer this year.
I usually go thru 2-3 deer a year. This year the freezer is full. Started off with a 300 lb bear. Then 4 deer in 3 weeks in November. Gave a deer to my dad and a deer to my in-laws. Also
1-2 turkeys a year and a half dozen grouse. Some years I'll hunt Wyoming, MN and WI so it's no problem getting at least 3 deer. Put the meat in the food saver bags and it's good for years.
"Unless you buy new equipment every year you really can't calculate that into the equation."
Yeah, you can always use the "old" stuff, but when people are buying $300 treestands every 5 years, trying new packs of $40 broadheads, buying $120/dz arrows, new hunting clothes, boots, buying corn at $20/100lbs, game cameras, putting in a couple of hundred bucks in food plots, etc., even if you divide that out over the years it runs pretty darn high.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the price of the tag. I do most of my hunting by the shack (some behind the house) but I don't really figure in the gas cause even if I wasn't hunting I would still be there putzing around anyways.
I just get a kick out of people that figure in their rifle/bow, their hunting clothes, boots, etc, etc into the cost per pound of venison. Unless you buy new equipment every year you really can't calculate that into the equation.
