+1 for accu-pressure wrist bands
and
+1 for ginger root supplements
My daughter and I both get motion sickness in the car. My daughter has used the accu-pressure wrist bands with success. But in dealing with my own sickness, I found the natural remedy to be ginger root supplements (can get them at Walgreens). Google can confirm its effectiveness, and both my daughter and I can attest to ginger's relief of motion sickness. In a pinch, drinking ginger ale or eating ginger snaps can help as well. If we know we're taking a long ride in the car (or any other cause), we just take 1-2 capsules with food, and bring a couple extra to take with a snack and we're golden!
Not always but generally yes have him take a dramamine the nite before then take a non drowsy 1 hr before charter he should b fine also take real ginger snap cookies they help calm the belly also if u can see the shore have him keep an eye on that it helps the brain we use these tricks daily it works 99% of the time a very lite breakfast like fruit and if the boat has a berth don't let him go down below it will make it much worse the wrist bands work about 50% but they r cheap my step daughter gets super car sick but never a touch and I have had her out to the sea mountains 60 miles of the kona coast so I say they work
I use to get sea sick all the time...every trip actually until one day I forgot to eat breakfast and went fishing and didn't get sick. Skip breakfast and sweets before going and once their mind and body get flowing with the motion of the ocean it should help.
also Fresh air and keep him busy! If you see him turning green get his mind off of it!
Motion sickness can be caused by many things, but it all comes down to a conflict in your brain.
In a smooth riding car, your eyes tell your brain that you are moving, but your vestibular center tells your brain that you are still. Some people can get motion sickness playing video games, simulators, etc.
In rough waters, the vestibular center (that large bony lump behind your ear), and your vision center are overloaded with sensory input, and the brain is not able to process it all.
Over time and repeated exposure, most can build up a tolerance. In some cases, people who are on a fishing charter for hours on end can get sick when they get back to land because their brain now has to deal with the lack of input.
Check with your MD about Dramamine, my mother did well with the little patch behind the ear. Not sure if it is recommended for kids, my friend got the magnetic bracelets for his kids - I just sent him an email asking how they worked.....will update when I get his reply.
They will probably get sick, but there is a great, natural way around it. Ginger! Go to GNC nutrition center and buy a jar of ginger root pills. They are totally safe and will REALLY help with motion sickness. Works better than Dramamine. I fish offshore saltwater a few times every year and used to always get sick, even with Dramamine. A friend told me to try the ginger pills and I havent gotten a touch of seasickness since. Only problem with them is it may cause slight drowsiness. Always take them with a meal. I've hear that candied ginger works too and doesnt cause drowsiness but I've never tried it. Hope this helps.
Yes and no.. My wife gets car sick.. When she first started fishing the lake, she would get sick in rough water. She would take Dramamine and still get sick.. Over the years she has gotten used to it and now she can fish in almost anything. She still either takes bonine, or uses bracelets but I think it is more in her head. Where are you looking to go out of? Try to get on a bigger more stable boat and that will help with some of the rocking in smaller waves.

Some friends of mine have had very good luck with the Accu-Pressure type wrist bands. They are drug free and safe for kids. It also helps to look around, if your focus is in too close it contributes to the sense of motion.
Good luck, hope you find something that works.

Simple, put a brown paper bag in all three of the boys back pockets, talk to the pharmacist and see if they make Dramamine for kids is another.Crazy, but the bag in the back pocket has worked for me every time, trick is to put it in just before you get in the boat.Charter would be a ball for all of you!!
Yes. Riding in a car is nothing. It's much easier to get seasick. You can stop the car and the motion sickness can stop. You can't stop the boat or ask the captain to take you back. There's a good chance all 3 could get sick if the water is even a little rough. Could also be no one gets sick. I never got car sick, but big lakes get me sick quick. Before spending the money for a charter, are there any tour boats you could take the kids on to see how they'll do?
