Making a trip to Cabelas to re-fill my tackle box for the upcoming open water season, lets here some suggestions for tackle box MUST haves! It can be terminal gear, bug spray, anything a good fisherman shouldn't be without!

bolt cutters are for cutting hooks, either in a human in case of accident, or to get baits out of a fish like a musky's mouth to do as little damage to the fish as possible. Bolt cutters are unvaluable, especially if you fish esoconids!

Theimer, Appreciate your post, but, what would you need a bolt cutters for? Just wondering? Thanks, Pool 9.

Something I keep in the boat is a side cutting pliers; to cut that hook lose that's stuck into you up to the curve of the shank.

Some odds and ends I like to carry with me... Reel oil /lube Spare reel parts Super glue...for lures and human repairs A towel. Split ring pliers. This is not really for a tackle box but, I like to keep the owners manuals for my equipment onboard in dry storage. Electronics, trolling motor outboard etc. Especially if they are relatively new to me.

Tackle varies depending on how you like to fish and what you fish for. But, across the board, I'd say a must-have is a first aid kit. One time out fishing, I was helping my fishing partner unhook a large pike. I was using a needle nose pliers and thought I was a safe distance away, but that thing started thrashing and got a tooth gash on my middle finger down to the bone. There I sat with blood running out of my finger and nothing but scummy lake water around. The next day I went out and bought a portable first-aid kit for my boat. I've used it several times.
