I have a Martin 72 that I use for salmon fishing, was wondering what everyone else is using on their fly rods. Also what are some good reels under $100 to consider.

Ross Flyrise is a good one for right around $100. Also look at the new Orvis Clearwater LA at $80.

i use an okuma helios 8/9 and love it. they do make some less expensive okuamas. get something that has a large arbor so you can gain line as fast as you can. good drag is important. i don't worry too much about having a ton of backing. you can use some small diameter braid like power pro or dyneema to increase backing if desired. just make sure the backing is not your weakest link. i also trim the rear of my fly line too cuz i won't be laying out 100' of fly line. just takes up room on spool. i think money is better spent on good rod and line as opposed to a really high end reel. good luck
