dog to canada

I am going to Canada in October on a week duck and goose hunt. I am planning in taking the dog so I am wondering what I need to get for crossing the border with the dog. Also how early should I start planning on getting stuff done for the dog? And one last one do I send the paperwork up to the border before hand or do I just show everything when I get there?

Good point about the dog food. I had never had a problem entering Canada and they have no restrictions as long as it is an unopened bag 44# or less. The restriction is on lamb, goat or sheep by-products when coming back into the US. Have to leave it there.

Proof of Rabies Vaccination is all you need to drive to Ontario. Not sure about other Providences. Also dog food must be in un-opened bag and certain ingredients prohibited, I think lamb and beef?...............

All you need is a current certificate of vaccines from your vet. Make sure there is a description of your dog included from the vet office. No prior paperwork is required. I have never had a problem.
