hooking chicken liver??

The problem with using previously frozen livers is that they become bridle when thawed. I was told by many old timers to ask the butcher for fresh livers, and I have to say I do notice the difference. If you use the spawn sacs then it doesn't really matter. There is another method you can try though. You will need an old coffee can with lid, a dozen chicken livers and non iodized salt. Place the livers in the can and coat with the salt. After coating the livers pour salt over them to just cover them. Store the can in the fridge a week before using. They will be nice and firm and last for weeks. They will never come off the hook while casting. The salt works as an attractant as well. I've caught many cats this way so I know it works! Good luck!
I always liked using it half frozen on a treble hook. The water will thaw it fairly fast and it will stay on the hook no matter how far you throw it. This can be hard to keep this way the longer you fish. I usually put it in a small cooler with lots of ice to keep it slightly froze.
