Me and a few buddies of mine are planning a trip for next summer to Ontario. Right now it's a toss up between these two lakes, Dinorwic and Lac Seul. I personally want to catch a lot of Pike and have a shot at a monster. They brought up the idea of Dinorwic because it's suppose to hold a better population of Musky. But is it so much better that as a whole it's a better lake then Lac Seul? Thanks for any advice guys.

Late report from Dinorwic. Fished there August 4-11 and stayed at Pinesunset Lodge. Fishing was great. Weather was near perfect with mild temperatures that cooled at night. No rain to speak of. Caught lots of walleye, northern, jumbo perch and smallmouth. No monsters though. We fished the bays and stayed off the main lake. Fished seem to relate to the broad leaf cabbage in 5-12 fow. Early in the week we were successful with jig and minnow. That got a little boring and later in the week we switched mostly to crank baits. That was a blast catching walleyes on crank baits in the middle of the day. Silver lipless crankbait seemed to work best although husky jerks, shad raps, spinners and minnow imitation baits all worked well. Worst part was those pesky northerns.

The lodge was great and looks like they have been upgrading recently. New cabins, fish house and group cookout area. Sharon, the owner, was particularly helpful in putting us on fish. She also removed a hook that was buried in my finger. She used a thin wire and a stick and did the old "I will pull it out on the count of three" trick. Then she counted "one" and ripped it out. It did not hurt a bit. SHe also put us on some great blueberry spots. Nothing like freshly picked blueberrys. I would recommend the Pinesunset Lodge. If you cant catch fish on Dinorwic, you would probably have trouble everywhere.

Our group had similar problems with the previously mentioned camp on Dinorwic. We just got back last week from Huber's Lone Pine Lodge. We had a great camp experience. The camp is located in the channel between the two lakes. Excellent access to a variety of fishing on both bodies of water. Camp boats have fishing decks, trolling motors, locator, live wells, and 40HP Honda's. Nice boats. Camp had A/C, TV, and internet in cabins. Hooked up with LL members to get some spots to fish. Mid week the owner threw a complimentary Pork Roast Dinner for the guest(s) This isn't for sure.....but a nice touch on his part. If you don't want to cook they run an authentic Bavarian restaurant on site. Huge fish house, sinks, and hose wash down with drains in the floor. It sets far enough off the road, that you get a remote feel. We didn't have the best fishing week, but that was due to weather and high winds. Still two guys caught pike 35" and 37.5". We were fishing for Walleyes. With that result, I imagine that if we were targeting them it would be great. Caught enough walleye for two fish fry's (12 guys) and everyone took home a limit. We lost 3 days of fishing due to weather and fly-out.

i fished wabagoon many times its the next lake on the chain and i would recommend dinowic if you want amazing huge pike and musky action. we fished 3 to a boat and we would get at least 2 pike over 35" in the boat every day and have 2-3 fallows a day all we used was smaller bucktails over cabbage. but the eye fishing was ok not as good as the pike fishing.

I have been to both lakes. I would go back to Dinorwic in a heartbeat over Lac Seul. Three of us fished Din opening day about three years ago and kid you not... darn near 600 northern. Alot of hammer handles but what a blast. Wlliams something lodge on the south end of Lac totally ripped us off. Everything was way over priced with surprise adds at the end of it all. It just depends on what you are looking for. If its Muskys, Id go to eagle lake or lake of the woods. Been there too but on lake of the woods, you have to do some research and make sure they dont have a tourney on the lake when you go cuz if they do, its busier than the madison chain on a weekend :

I have only fished lac I would love to go back. All kinds of water to fish. We hit small shallow bay and we each caught 50 plus pike in an afternoon. Lots of 30 to 35 inches but it was a blast. Largest for our group that week was a 43. We stayed at Lost Island Lodge. The group I went with has gone back every year. The hot pike bait was a Johnson silver spoon ripping it threw the weeds.
