Late report from Dinorwic. Fished there August 4-11 and stayed at Pinesunset Lodge. Fishing was great. Weather was near perfect with mild temperatures that cooled at night. No rain to speak of. Caught lots of walleye, northern, jumbo perch and smallmouth. No monsters though. We fished the bays and stayed off the main lake. Fished seem to relate to the broad leaf cabbage in 5-12 fow. Early in the week we were successful with jig and minnow. That got a little boring and later in the week we switched mostly to crank baits. That was a blast catching walleyes on crank baits in the middle of the day. Silver lipless crankbait seemed to work best although husky jerks, shad raps, spinners and minnow imitation baits all worked well. Worst part was those pesky northerns.
The lodge was great and looks like they have been upgrading recently. New cabins, fish house and group cookout area. Sharon, the owner, was particularly helpful in putting us on fish. She also removed a hook that was buried in my finger. She used a thin wire and a stick and did the old "I will pull it out on the count of three" trick. Then she counted "one" and ripped it out. It did not hurt a bit. SHe also put us on some great blueberry spots. Nothing like freshly picked blueberrys. I would recommend the Pinesunset Lodge. If you cant catch fish on Dinorwic, you would probably have trouble everywhere.
